Here in the Live Free or Die state, the Hands-Free Driving Law just went into affect July 1st, 2015.
Common sense will tell you that you shouldn’t engage in unnecessary phone calls or texting while driving for your own safety as well as the safety of others.
The Hands-Free Driving Law isn’t in every state (yet) so Sprint wants to help make the roads safer with their FREE Drive First App. This app is not only great for adults, but perfect for new teen drivers too. It’s FREE and only takes a few seconds to download. Once it’s on your phone, if the app detects that you are in motion and going more than 10mph, it automatically turns on and prohibits you from using the phone! You will see two options on your screen – Emergency call and “I’m Not Driving” (so passengers with the app can continue to use their phone!) The app sends all your calls to voicemail and can auto reply to text messages for you as well.
ADDED BONUS: Within the app, locate the Parent Tools setting and create a PIN. Only those who know the PIN number will be able to make changes to the app so you can be sure that your teen driver won’t be able to delete or disable the Sprint Drive First app without your permission. Clever!
Thumb Wars
Another way Sprint is helping keep your teens safe while they are driving is by teaming up with DoSomething.org for the Thumb Wars campaign.
With this unique approach, Sprint and mega influencer, DoSomething.org, is helping to prevent young people from texting and driving by encouraging your teen to use the power of their thumbs for fun instead of for texting while driving.
- Get your teen to sign up at ThumbWars.org and they will receive two pairs of anti-texting thumb socks that look like this:

- Next, your teen will pick a friend or loved one they know who texts and drives (and shouldn’t!) and share one of the thumb socks with them.
- Finally, your teen is encouraged to snap a pic of themselves and their friend wearing their cute little thumb socks and send it to DoSomething.org.

LG G4
When you AREN’T driving down the road and it IS safe to use your phone, you’re going to want the new LG G4 smartphone. For reals.
I’m sure you’ve seen the commercials for it by now? Obviously, this phone is quickly becoming one of the most popular droid phones on the market because of it’s epic screen resolution. Beyond that though, it boasts a 16MP rear-facing camera and an 8MP front-facing selfie camera that is beyond amazing.
This bad boy boasts a real leather case that comes included with the phone and looks classy and sophisticated while giving you extra traction while holding the phone. The weight of the phone feels great in your hand and the buttons are conveniently located on the back of the device. Honestly, that took a minute to get used to when we took this phone for a test drive. Fortunately, after using it for a while, we got the hang of it.
The camera and the incredible screen on this phone is the big seller though…
My husband has a Nikon DSLR Camera so it’s very hard to impress him, but he was truly amazed as the crisp, precise and detailed images this phone camera was able to capture. He casually threw some wildflowers on the counter and you can see the results on the screen are quite impressive…
The screen resolution is quad HD and the color quality and contrast make everything look real.
This phone’s camera post processes the image by default, like any normal cell phone camera does, however a nice feature of the LG G4 is that post processing can be disabled. You can take pictures in manual mode and you have control over everything like you would a dslr, except f-stop which is 1.8.
My husband took a picture of the blueberries in our backyard in manual mode without post processing. The picture on the left is the unretouched original and the picture on the right is a crop of one of the blueberries so you can see the incredible detail.
